BOOKINGS & DEPOSITS
To confirm a quotation, a non-refundable deposit of $50 – $100 per student is required (depending on travel requirements). Deposits will be due within 4 weeks of booking accommodation, or 2 weeks where airfares are required.
TOUR COSTS
There are no hidden extra costs. Our tours are fully inclusive and the costs are based on paying students and FOC supervisors. Tour prices may be altered at the discretion of the company due to external influences. Prices are subject to change if a change in student/supervisors occurs.
TIME OF TRAVEL – CANBERRA
Canberra is very popular during Term 3, mainly due to the Snowy Mountains option that can be included for students. Remember though, if traveling to the snow is not a key driver of your school’s excursion, there are considerable savings to be made during Term 1. Contact Unearth-ed to get a list of the savings your school can make.
Parliamentary sitting dates are also a key driver for schools, so if this component is a key reason for travelling to Canberra, be sure to check the dates and more importantly, accommodation availability.
All other destinations advertised are available for travel all year round.
ITINERARY
Be mindful of timing when sending or submitting your ‘wish list’ of attractions so that you are not disappointed if you are not able to fit everything in to the duration of your stay.
Remember to also state if you are requiring ‘guided’ or ‘self guided’ tours and ensure you book in to programs at attractions that support your curriculum focus. When planning your choice of destinations, remember to contact Unearth-Ed should you need any further details for any venues.
ACCOMMODATION
Unearth-Ed offer various types of accommodation – motels, cabins, bunkhouses etc – so when booking, try to have some idea of accommodation that your school requires. Also, most accommodation includes a meal package so be sure to enquire whether they will meet any dietary or religious requirements of students.
TRANSPORT
We can arrange whichever mode of transport you prefer, depending on your school’s location. We utilise Virgin Australia and Qantas for your flights (where possible) and various coach companies. We also offer bus or coach transport whilst in Canberra to meet your requirements.
When travelling interstate, Unearth-Ed will always utilise seat-belted, fully air conditioned coach transport for your comfort and safety. Should your school’s excursion require flights, one baggage item of no more than 20kg can be checked-in and one carry-on bag per person is allowed – further travel details will be provided upon confirmation of your booking.
INSURANCE
Unearth-Ed has realised the importance of your students’ well being whilst travelling away from home and so for all bookings, we offer travel insurance as an optional extra. This insurance is designed for schools traveling between 1 – 5 nights or 6 – 10 nights which covers loss of deposits, loss of baggage, additional expenses, personal accident and public liability. Further information may be obtained from our office when you make enquiries regarding your excursion requirements. A product disclosure statement must be read prior to agreeing to travel insurance.
WHAT TO BRING
Ensure you pack accordingly – remember that each student will be responsible for their own belongings so they should be able to manage their individual luggage. Be sure to check with the Unearth-Ed team if your accommodation supplies linen so you can advise the students if sleeping bags / towels / linen are required. Finally, be aware of the time of travel with regards to weather conditions and pack to suit the extremes.
